New Zealanders are invited to get out and meet a greyhound as part of the Great Global Greyhound Walk. Greyhounds are calm, affectionate and full of personality, and there is no better way to understand their appeal than spending some time with them. You will get the chance to do exactly that – come along and see for yourself what makes them such special companions. The Tauranga walk, hosted by Greyhounds As Pets, leaves Robbins Park (in the open space between the Vintage Car Club and the Rose Garden) at 11:00am for an easy 45-minute stroll along the waterfront. It is one of 20 walks happening across New Zealand that morning, from Whangārei to Dunedin, with walkers collectively aiming to cover 3,000kms in a single day.

These school holidays, BayActive has plenty of fun lined up to keep your kids active and entertained at The University of Waikato Haumaru Sport & Recreation Centre! Holiday Tumble Time runs from 9:30am to 12:00pm and is suitable for children up to 13 years old, including both primary and intermediate ages. Please note that children must be supervised by a parent or caregiver at all times. Tumble Time offers a variety of activities designed to help children develop physical skills such as balance, coordination, climbing, agility, and fine motor skills. It’s also a great way for kids to build social confidence in a group setting, and for parents to meet new friends.

This is your opportunity to learn to sew, flex your creativity, have some fun crafting and take home some special, unique items and garments, made by you! Each session we will have a special project to work on (patterns and fabrics included). If you'd like to work on a project that takes longer you can use these sessions for extra help on that journey. All sewing levels welcome! Sarah Sew Love is a self-proclaimed “hype girl for YOUR sustainable sewing journey”! She’s been sewing, blogging, gramming and teaching sewing for over 10 years through her sewcial enterprise Sew Love and she’s now calling Tauranga home. Sarah’s known for popping up workshops all over NZ; alongside markets, conferences, schools, community houses & recycle centres to share her passion for sewing skills and sustainable living. “DIYing the reusables we need, repairing the things we love, embracing sewing slow and sewing together with others - it all makes our lives more special!” In recent years she’s mostly known for her sellout upcycled scrap bum bags and dancing around on instagram but hosting workshops is her homebase of happiness. Rest assured the energy is just the same in real life so come join one of her workshops this winter in our Social Fabric room. With big smiles and rainbow fabric scraps, her workshops always provide a safe space and encouragement for everyone’s creativity and self-expression through sewing. Held at Tauranga Boys' College Gymnasium, the four-day exhibition will feature more than 500 original artworks created by members of the Tauranga Society of Artists, showcasing an exciting mix of painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media and more.
