Uplift Your Workday

Working in the city centre has so many perks, from the amazing selection of cafes and restaurants, to access to the waterfront, and lots of shops to explore. There are so many great options for getting out of the office and recharging your batteries. Here are some of my favourite ways to spend my lunch break.

1. A relaxing lunchtime stroll

This might sound like an obvious one, but there is no better way to uplift your workday than getting away from your computer screen and going for a walk. You can’t beat a stroll along the waterfront but I would also highly recommend heading up to the rose gardens at Robbins Park. Take your lunch with you to enjoy on one of the many benches. It’s so peaceful!

2. The perfect lunchtime workout

We all know that exercise plays a key role in our physical and mental health and wellbeing, but did you also know it can improve your concentration, productivity, creativity and mental stamina at work? For the perfect lunchtime workout check out The Pilates Fix for a great selection of classes for all abilities including reformer, barre, matwork, yoga and meditation.

3. Get some retail therapy

If it’s too rainy out for a walk or I’m not feeling like a workout, my go-to lunch break activity is a bit of cheeky retail therapy. My favourite spots are Cabbages & Kings, Nood, Farmers and Number One Shoes. It’s such a nice distraction from the busyness of the workday and a great way to sneak in some “me” time.

4. Treat yourself (and your toes)

Having an extra stressful morning at work? Treat yourself to an Express Pedicure at Breathe Salon & Spa. You’ll head back to the office feeling relaxed, recharged, and ready to take on whatever comes your way! Plus you’ll get a bonus back massage with their massage chairs.

5. Find your next read

I’ve always found libraries to be such tranquil, relaxing spaces which is why I think Tauranga City Library makes the perfect spot for a workday break. Browse for your next read, enjoy some peace and quiet, and let your mind wander. Bliss!
