SUPREME WINNER

Lulu Boorman - ‘Splash’
Sponsored by Priority 1
Prize: A trip to London, Paris, New York or Rome worth $3000 from House of Travel Tauranga and Downtown Tauranga.

Judges comment: Wow, Lulu! Congratulations on taking an absolutely outstanding shot. Not only are you the photographer, but you are also the subject. Everything in the image is really crisp and sharp. There is such clarity in the water And lots of detail in the bubbles, and in Lulu's skin behind the wave. There is just the right amount of light in the image, and even though you can feel the crash and energy of the wave, Lulu is perfectly in focus, her gaze connecting with the viewer. What an extraordinary talent you are, Lulu.

OUR PEOPLE CATEGORY

1st place: Brydie Thompson - ‘Lifeguard Sid’
Sponsored by Form
Prize: $1000 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine & Weekend Sun

Judges comment: What a great mascot for our people! Every element in this image tells a bit of a story about Sid, an 87-year-old lifeguard at Omanu. On a bright day, Brydie has captured so much detail in the shot and composed her subject well. The character in Sid's face shines through. Omanu Beach Surf Life Saving Club is home to the country's biggest junior programme (known as 'Nippers'), and the country's oldest lifeguard, Sid!

2nd place: Karlie Morrow - ‘Reluctant Birthday Portrait’
Prize: $500 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine and Weekend Sun

DIGITAL MANIPULATION CATEGORY

1st place: Jared Dobbs - ‘Char in a Fijian Mat’
Sponsored by Basestation
Prize: $1000 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine & Weekend Sun

Judges comment: There's plenty of contrast with light and shadow, and some great depth of field. Your eye can really move around and find lots to look at. Jared has taken a beautifully sharp and crisp image. And there's a wonderful link between the look in Char's eyes, and her step-father's caption. We loved that this was shot whilst the family were on a job together. Very Bay of Plenty!

2nd place: Flynn Macredie - ‘Dream On and Reach For the Stars’
Prize: $500 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine and Weekend Sun

NATURE & LANDSCAPES CATEGORY

1st place: Karl Tretheway - ‘Wicked Skies at Motuotau Island’
Sponsored by TAURIKO Business Estate
Prize: $1000 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine & Weekend Sun

Judges comment: This image has captured how fickle the weather can be. A dark, lumpy sky swells with rain and the light still over the sand will be soon gone.

2nd place: Kerry Maclean - ‘White Faced Heron Fishing For Crabs’
Prize: $500 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine and Weekend Sun

CELEBRATION CATEGORY

1st place: Andrew Warner - ‘The 100th Kiss’
Sponsored by VIVO Hair and Beauty
Prize: $1000 plus photo profiles in UNO. Magazine & Weekend Sun

Judges comment: What a happy day! Andrew captures the vitality in our community, with the focus on Doug's enjoyment from a cheeky kiss from his wife, Lilias. Young and old join together to celebrate a life well-lived.‚Äč
