Mainstreet Tauranga Manager Millie Newitt recently visited the Rock Shop, find out all about her experience below.

I went to The Rock Shop on Durham Street many times growing up, having a dad who played in a band took care of that. I hadn't remembered that walking into The Rock Shop is an experience in itself, with all of those guitars displayed on the walls, it seems like every inch of the store displays a different instrument. The icing on the cake of my experience, and apparently so many others who shop at the Rock Shop, was being treated to a beautiful demo by Sean.

I had to know more. So I asked Sean a few questions to get to know him and The Rock Shop a bit better.

It turns out Sean isn't the only member of the team who can play an instrument, all seven employees are seasoned pianists, guitarists and can even give a good demonstration of a trumpet or flute! Sean said that even though they will happily show people how an instrument sounds, they always encourage the person looking to buy to give it a go themselves, and see how they feel.

The Rock Shop has been on Durham Street since 2009 and before then they were in Spring Street for many years. They do much more than sell instruments, they also do repairs and can recommend great teachers in the area if you're wanting to learn!

Plus their network of musicians in the area is vast, they gave me some very good recommendations on bands and solo artists to play at an event.
