Barbershop Harmony NZ National Convention

Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied vocal music characterised by four-part chords for every melody note in a predominantly homophonic texture. The melody is consistently sung by the lead, with the tenor harmonizing above the melody, the bass singing the lowest harmonizing notes, and the baritone completing the chord. Occasional brief passages may be sung by fewer than four voice parts.

This September the National Barbershop Convention is being held at Tauranga's Holy Trinity Church over 3 days! On September 21st 200 singers will gather in Red Square for a 'Big Sing', from 4 - 6pm. Head along to witness a very special performance right here in our city centre.
