*OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE NATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL TAURANGA*
The Tauranga Jazz Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the National Jazz Festival.
Tauranga Jazz Society’s top priority is the health and safety of artists, staff, volunteers, sponsors, venues, audience, and community. Following the recommendation of the New Zealand government and public health officials, the 58th National Jazz Festival has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Festival organisers understand the impact this news may bring. With regard to the 43rd National Youth Jazz Competition to be held 8 to 9 April, Festival organisers are considering alternative dates and will release further information on this once they have consulted fully.
The 58th National Jazz Festival presents a fantastic programme of events in Tauranga this Easter from 8 to 12 April 2020, showcasing performances from some of the best jazz musicians in Australasia.
There's something for everyone, from world-class jazz concerts at the Baycourt Community and Arts Centre, the two-day 43rd National Youth Jazz Competition, family day at the Jazz Historic Village on Good Friday, dancing at the Hurricane Party, a Vintage Car Parade plus a two-day jazz party at the Downtown Tauranga Carnival, sunset jazz cruises on the Kewpie, and uptown jazz at Hotel Armitage including a delightful Jazz High Tea.
So much to explore and experience – bring your family and friends for a Tauranga jazz adventure.
